Free Parent Drop-In
On the following dates, parents are invited to attend parent workshop sessions. For the first hour of each session, the topics listed below will be discussed and during the second half there will be an open question and answer period. All parents are welcome and we encourage you to bring friends, nannies, neighbours, grandparents - anyone who deals with children.
MORNING SESSIONS: 9:15-11am
AFTERNOON SESSIONS: 1:15-3pm
Location: The morning sessions are to be held at 26 Camellia Dr., just off Bantry. Because the basement is not available, one of our parents, Martha Simone, has kindly offered her home as our meeting place.
The afternoon sessions will be held in Room 1 at Kinderschool Adlerian Nursery, 8905 Bayview Ave. (Baview and Hwy.#7 area, just north of Briggs Rd. east side).

Wed. Oct 10th, 2007. - Encouragement - A misbehaving child is a discouraged child. Here's a chance to focus on specific ways and language to encourage your child. Sometimes we as parents feel discouraged and need support. Bain insight and learn self-encouragement too.
Wed. Nov. 14th, 2007. - Beddie byes, Bibs, and Bums - Bodily functions can't be controlled by us, but we can find ways to encourage and minimize frustrations. Learn new strategies on how to respond effectively to your child's needs.
Wed. Dec. 12th, 2007. - Alternatives to Punishment - find ways to discipline your children so your relationship with them is enhanced and co-operation increases.
Jan. 23rd, 2008 - After Kinderschool - Many parents are concerned about their child's ability to cope with the "real world" after they leave our warm, encouraging environment. Your response to school can nurture or inhibit learning. Public or Private?
Feb. 13th, 2008 - Sibling Rivalry or Sibling Conflict? What is the difference and how do we deal with fighting and arguing? Gain insight on how to handle trying situations when friends come over to play.
Mar. 19th, 2008 - Allowances - Find out how and when to introduce allowance. Discover what skills your child learns from having an allowance.
Apr. 16th, 2008 - Communication Skills - Find out about the "I" messages, reflective listening, communication blocks and questioning. Participants will get to practice these skills.
May 14th, 2008 - You Hurt My Feelings - Often children pull at our heart strings and take advantage of our kind, good nature. Learn how to say no and follow up without feeling guilty. What are the characteristics of an emotionally healthy child?
June 11th, 2008 - In-laws or Out-laws - Often parents can help or hinder parents in the process of rearing. Bring your concerns up for discussion and find ways to cope with difficult situations.
